It doesn't seem like they know what they are doing in D.C. as well as other places. I really hope the next batch of "leaders" knows what they are doing, but I will believe it when I see it.

It's scary no matter what
I'm afraid that they (our elected officials) DO know what they are doing. Whether they do or not, I place the blame for our current economic crisis squarely on them. If they honestly don't know what to do, they should proceed with caution and not behave like an auto mechanic that troubleshoots a problem by replacing expensive parts.
Let the employees keep the bonuses (unless they want to return them voluntarily) and run the lying, complicit politicians out of office.
